These, on the whole, aren't as good as roll 1 or 2, I think.

I call this one "Why I need a point light meter instead of a frame light meter".

I don't know why I didn't rotate this one but I'll do it later.
The whole point of this one was the clouds, though I still haven't learned my "That never works the way you want it to" lesson.

This one is marred and isn't getting better and holy crap does it piss me off. Argh.

I'd correct the broken ones but I get old tomorrow and I have to sleep.

I have no idea how I didn't see that giant hair or whatever it is, but I'll be rescanning this one later. I'm pretty sure it's removable.

That thing on Gavin's forehead is in fact a scratch, not a piece of dust, so this one won't be getting better. I may try to photoshop it later but I'm not that amazing at removing things and inserting detail.

This is a bug that postma nailed with a thrown knife. It's hard to see, but it's there.

Negatives 12-14 on this roll are out because they're part of a panorama that hasn't been colormatched / stitched together yet.

I didn't catch any meteors. Probably because I forgot my cable release and didn't build a star-tracking mount. What do I do all day?

This was an accidental exposure that turned out really cool. I have no idea what those weird shapes in the sky are but they're awesome.

Visual noise on this one and on the star picture makes me think I need a new camera.

There's another picture of the sky taken through the lake on roll 1, which I may or may not like better.

Reviewing my past commenting escapades, I have come to the inescapable conclusion that I am a comedic genius.
No, I can't show you any examples. You might not agree with me.

I'm back from backpacking on Mount Adams. I need better boots (ones with real padding in), but once I do, I want there to be more challenging terrain, like stuff that involves climbing some maybe. I have this kind of pseudo-beard thing that I haven't bothered shaving yet but probably will this weekend, which coincidentally is when I will drop off the film (I expect to get it back Monday). Then sometime between Monday and next weekend I will scan them in and see if I managed to get a usable picture out of those three rolls.
Which reminds me of another thing - I have to pick up a new lens and lenscap. And ideally some way of affixing said lenscap to lens. Also, a dummy filter to protect the lens from all the horrible things I bring it near.

Also, here Ella mentions something I said in Aug 2002 (I think), but my logs only go to Nov 2002, and I am desperate to find out what it was, but don't think I'll ever be able to.
Grr. My logs would be permanent if I didn't end up changing AIM clients all the time.

This is annoying, but still pretty and also manageable. It's a really nice effect, I just resent having to learn the same thing twice. It's blurred so it's easier to spot the repeat.

I learned an important lesson about management today: It's harder for them to care about work you do that they can't see.
For example, today I made a simple script to automatically formulate a "someone called, here is their message" email; my boss was very enthused (since the receptionist has apparently dropped messages before and having it automatically sent out right then would prevent this).
As another example, a month or two ago I came in for a few hours of overtime on the weekend to do things to the mailserver and make it better. Noone noticed or really cared, except me, and had I done it when people were around to notice they just would've noticed that the mailserver was down.
I see more small-time noticable projects imminent prior to my performance review :)

Today is system administrator appreciation day!
So go appreciate your local administrator, or something. From phones to TVs to computers to planes to trains, they keep the important bits running and the malicious bits down. They're like a The Man that knows what he's doing and doesn't arbitrarily keep everyone down, or at least they should be.

The Island is the worst movie ever. Ever. I think I developed a nosebleed during the movie and now I have a headache.
You think that the film equivalent of a guy wearing a helmet coming onscreen and going HURRRR will stop after the first five minutes or not really occur all that often in the rest, but it just ... it keeps coming. Before long the movie blurs into this unearthly hellish choir leaching you of your will to live - I can only pray it does for some horrifically evil purpose of Michael Bay's because if there is no purpose it means he made this movie because he thought it might be good.
The Island is the kind of movie that inspires other countries to tighten their gun control, which in turn allows them to choke down even shittier movies from Hollywood.
Agh.

Also, I never would have expected this of the Women's Books & Resources.

yesterday, while shaving, I noticed a spider crawling along the countertop. Since I was kind of in the middle of something, I couldn't take it outside; I set the shaving can (not flat-bottomed) on top of it intending to recover it later.
Then I forgot about it.

Today, when I went to shave, it had curled up into a ball in the classic "dead spider" position; I assumed it was dead.
... halfway through shaving, I noticed it crawling around again. I figured I'd probably forget it again if I re-trapped it, and hey, what's one spider, so I hit it a few times with a container of some kind (something flat-bottomed). Eventually it curled up and went motionless again, so I decided this time I had it for sure, and finished shaving.
... This time I caught it getting back up. It was really cool - it slowly unfolded and then very slowly started moving until it decided I wasn't paying attention and then resumed normal activity.

So anyway, I figure that little guy has earned his right to life. I don't want to wake anyone up, so if he's still in the bathroom tomorrow I'll take him outside then.

I made a drawing:

for an mspaint thread on a message board. It's not (quite) mspaint, but I am inordinately proud of it because the person on the left isn't quite a stick figure.
there's a few things I'd like to correct, like more shape noise on the ground, but whatever.
I have also registered opcit.net, it points to exactly the same stuff operationcitadel.net does, DNS should take off later today.

I've been messing with postfix + postgres to give postfix virtual domains (so I don't have to give everyone I want to receive mail for a shell, and so x@onedomain isn't necessarily also valid as y@domaintwo). It IS checking postgres for the domain, but for some reason it still requires a valid shell, and I don't know why. I may switch to LDAP since it's easier to use that for other auth stuff which would be cool, but I'm not exactly sure how to make that do virtual domains, and I can't think of anything else I need to auth for right now.
.. I'm sure I'd find things if I set it up.

I'm also finding myself sorely tempted to bike places that aren't work rather than drive, particularly at night, but I'm missing a front reflector and a back light. I'd rather get a bike-mountable front light, too...
Currently, my 'front light' is a headlamp. Its mount interferes with the helmet, and I'd rather have the helmet than the light, so I have to affix it to my bicycle or myself by other means. There's no good mount on the bicycle, and there's no good mount on me unless I'm wearing a flak jacket (in which case there's a mediocre mount that I have to readjust every 500 feet).
so I guess I have to visit the bike store again :(
